"A record of local events in Burnley from 1932 through to 1950. Features a 1932 Hospital Carnival, a Burnley v Luton football match from 1935 and the last tram to run in the town on 7th May 1935. Wartime footage includes the activities of the Burnley Home Guard and a 'Wings for Victory' parade along Colne Road in 1943. King George VI visits Burnley on 8th March 1945 before newspaper headlines announce the end of the war and there are shots of street parties, dancing outside the Town Hall, fires being lit, a thanksgiving service at St Peters Church and an outdoor concert and ceremony at Towneley Park. The film ends with footage from the 1950 General Election at which local Labour MP Wilfrid Burke retains his seat." (NWFA Online Archive)

Gray, a consistent winner in national film competitions and recently honored with the title of Leading Amateur Movie Maker of the nation by the Movie Makers Club of Oklahoma and associated cine clubs, has turned in another of his superb filming jobs in 'Glamorous Guatemala.' A highlight is the excellent titling job, a department of movie making in which Gray excels. Gray opens his picture with scenes of modern day Guatemala, then gradually leads us into more remote areas of the country where he shows the native Guatemalan at work and at play, harvesting coffee, weaving, and trucking his wares to market, or indulging the religious ceremonials and market day festivities, which comprise his chief diversions. "Animules are imaginary animals which may be constructed from such common materials as wet paper, paste, wire, string, and paint. A class of junior high students show how to make animules. A base of wet newspaper is tied around a thin piece of wire and paper mache is then added and molded to the desired shape. A coat of paste gives a smooth surface which may then be painted.
