We Were Two is a black-and-white film done by a serious student of the film and a pretty consistent winner in film festivals, Larry Klubukowski of Stevens Point, Wis. Larry classifies his film as experimental and that it definitely is not a story film. And yet, it's not really an underground film. The filming technique is excellent and you have any choice of conclusions about what the film is about after you've seen it. They Stood Alone won an Honorable Mention and Special Judges' Award for a Teen-Age Production and for outstanding use of animation. This 16-minute color film of "little green men" and their fight for survival will be a real revelation to those film makers that have tried some clay figure animation. The story is a little loose but an excellent use of angles, lighting and timing more than deserves the award won by Bill Peterman 16, Ray Katos, 16 and Dick Miklos, 18, of Chicago.
Swiss Horizons is an 8mm film about Switzerland done by a film maker from Australia. This 8½-minute color film was well done by Roy Charlton of Alexandra Headlands. Roy takes you out to the out-of-the-way places of beautiful Switzerland at a nice, easygoing pace. The trip is narrated on an accompanying magnetic tape," PSA Journal, Mar. 1970, 44.
Soleil Noir bears a French title and was submitted by Roger Ayral of Paris. It is a very unusual film done in black-and-white that shows what can be done by projecting black and white designs on the dancing figure of a ballerina. Its 8 minutes is a little long for the subject, but it is different—an excellent study in designs and rhythm," PSA Journal, Mar. 1970, 44.
